um updated version of this post. our dear sweet boy has passed away, and i don't even know what to do i never have, experienced loss like this in such a long time and it hurts so. so much. knowing that it could have been prevented and knowing that because of who we are and what we live through effected him in the end.
i will still be keeping my ko-fi up, to be able to afford getting him cremated as soon as possible because it's honestly what we would prefer. thank you for those who tried to help to get him treatment. thank you to those who shared. thank you for keeping him on your mind and in your hearts. i know he will always be in mine.
from now on we're just going to do our best to care for our youngest boy, and make sure that he can stay as happy and healthy as he is forever and ever.
i will also be leaving my pypal link, if you would prefer to send it directly. it can be found here. so far we did have 130 raised out of our 480 goal
the vet actually called us bakcjfjkg we told them what happened and they said it could cost around 200 dollars for cremation. um, we'll try to raise about 200 to try and get him a good urn as well and such and because of transport and such or whatever i don't even know.

Need help making ends meet
We were withdrawn from a paid education program we were attending and need to re-enroll, however the re-enrollment process will leave me without income until January. Our wife has put together a gofundme for our expenses and we would greatly appreciate any help, even if it's just reblogging or sharing to other socials. https://gofund.me/5295289e

! ! ! ! Please Read ! ! ! !
I came across this little guy's gofundme page. He sadly got bit by a poisonous snake twice. He's fighting for his life, requiring lots of treatment that's going to add up financially, with no promise of a positive outcome. Please read the info and consider donating anything you can, if possible. Or reblog and help this little guy by getting the word out to others that can help!

I’m reaching out because my sweet kittens, Miro, Ms. Midnight, and Bandana, need urgent medical care. They’re battling eye infections and likely pneumonia, and we’re still feeling the loss of their brother, Soot, who we had to say goodbye to too soon. Your support means the world to us—every little bit helps cover their vet bills and keep them healthy. Please like, comment, and share this post to help us spread the word and find more friends who can help these little furballs! 🐾💔 #gofundme

emergency vet bills !!!
Tumblr media
Our kitten Shrimp had an emergency and almost went into cardiac arrest yesterday. He's slowly recovering and is spending two nights at the vet's, as they believe it may be pneumonia, but he's so little that they can't run the usual tests.
Now that he's in good hands, we've been focusing on raising the money needed for his bills. We need $4000 overall, so anything helps, and all support is appreciated, whether it be donations or just liking and reposting. Thank you so much <3

For all the gushing done in my inbox and by myself about how small and holdable Mambo is, I actually don't get the impression that he is somebody who likes to be manhandled. From what we see in the film like Munk grabbing his wrist and dragging him away or Ella grabbing it to lift him up from the dwarves' cottage roof with Munk grabbing his tail he's not Rocket Raccoon levels of 'don't touch/pet me!', but I get the feeling he would be irritated if he was ever cooed over like he was a plush toy. I think he would enjoy ear scratches but be taken aback by the actual moment someone reaches out to randomly touch them or boop him on the nose. He doesn't strike me as a guy who would want to be picked up and cuddled with, or even the physically affectionate type.

What is the best way to help dogs who are afraid of strangers?
Certain dogs have a severe dread of strangers. Any unfamiliar individual they encounter causes them to shrink, shake, and attempt to hide. Even though it's common for dogs to be wary of strangers, the best course of action is to greet them with open kindness rather than by hiding or taking off. It's an excellent move to learn the causes of your dog's extreme fear of strangers so you can assist it in overcoming its phobia. Read More...

Disney princess Danny
It’s known that animals can sense death. Instances where pets gravitate to someone on their death bed and dogs barking at ghosts. Danny already knew this from before he half died, so he was expecting animals to rat him out with their sixth sense or become aggressive or cower from him. Instead, they all behaved the complete opposite than he anticipated.
Stray cats come running to rub against his legs, dogs nearly pull arms out of their owners sockets to get close to him, birds bring him trinkets, raccoons lead him to trash cans full of food, and even squirrels and rats get close to just sit on his shoulders. It’s… weird, but not unwelcome. He always loved animals.
Danny had come to semi-trust the animals that come to him. They know where the good food is and drinking water, they know when to steer away from a certain area right before something happens, and they always know when a person is bad or okay. So when an animal leads him somewhere, he follows. Sometimes they need help and he’s the one they go to. He’s helped plenty of raccoons out of garbage bins and cats out of gutters to have a good relationship with the animals of the streets.
What he isn’t expecting is to be led to Robin again and again.
The first time it was a cat. A mangy old Tom cat that rubbed against his torn up jeans and looked back with - Danny swears- a raised eyebrow. Danny follows and soon enough he finds himself standing a few paces away from Robin who is kneeling down to give clean water to the momma cat and her three kittens.
Robin freezes and so does Danny. They stare at each other.
“Um, hi?”
Robin straightens immediately, leaving the water on the ground where the cats can drink. Tom cat swaggers over to guard them.
“Civilian. Is there something I can assist you with?”
The dude is probably a year or two younger than Danny himself and he has to suppress a smile at the formal tone.
“Oh, uh, no? The cat just led me here.”
He can see Robin glance at the Tom cat who was now licking himself.
“Is that so?”
“Yea. Sorry to interrupt. Animals just like me for some reason.”
The three kittens one by one all totter over to him on unsteady legs after they had their fill. The orange one starts trying to climb his pant leg with its short and sharp claws digging into the jean material.
“They really like me.”
He carefully sits down crossed legged so the others could also climb all over him. Robin watches for a moment silently and when he sees Danny react well to the little pricks from tiny claws, he seems it safe enough to return to patrol.
The second time it’s a couple of rats that lure him away to find Robin fighting off more thugs than he probably should by himself. So taking the rats’ movements as encouragement, he takes the closest thing, a piece of plywood, and hit the nearest guy over the head with it. The guy crumbles like a wet sock and Danny is moving on to the next thug.
They sweep the floor with these guys with only a few splinters and a twisted ankle.
“It was dangerous to intervene,” Robin tells him. “I had it handled.”
“Yea, I know.”
The vigilante didn’t seem to be expecting that response from his stunned silence. He straightens as much as he can with bruised ribs.
“Well, I’m glad you know your mistake. Don’t let it happen again.”
Danny neither agrees nor disagrees, just shrugs and allow the rats to climb up his leg to his shoulder. Robin looks at them curiously. Danny gives a salute before leaving. Robin gives him a nod.
The third time it happened the roles are reversed.
Some people from the local gang are bullying the lonely, homeless teen to run drugs for them. They don’t seem to understand the word ‘no’. It gets to the point where Danny finds himself with his back against the wall and all his exits blocked with a guy shoving him again and again.
“Stop it!”
“I’ll stop if you agree.”
“I’m not doing it!”
Frank the raccoon and his buddy Bobby launch themselves at the guy’s ankles. The guy shrieks and pulls a gun.
“No!”
Before Danny can dive for it, a projectile comes out of nowhere to knock it out of his hands. He can’t even process what happened before the three are running away, two raccoons chattering at their heels before coming back to crowd him in worry.
Danny looks up to see Robin with a sword out threateningly, staring at where the three fled. He sheaths the sword after a few seconds.
“Are you okay?”
Danny realizes he’s breathing a little heavy and slows down a bit as he leans over to pet the top of the two heads.
“I’m- yea, I’m okay. Thanks for the save. Those guys were jerks.”
“I’m inclined to agree.”
Robin is staring at the raccoons and it takes Danny a long moment to piece things together.
“Did- did they lead you to me?”
Robin doesn’t answer right away.
“You have loyal friends.”
Danny smiles at the weird compliment. Looking down at the two heroes of the evening Danny is also inclined to agree.
The fourth time is funny in a way Danny doesn’t know how to describe.
It was the pigeons. They were at fault of course for how Robin’s secret identity was outed. By pigeons.
The grey birds swarmed Danny and settled in a cloud of feathers. One holding something in its beak before plopping it down in his lap like a golden retriever. It flaps off as Danny picks up the obvious wallet clip holding quite a bit of cash and a student ID. The card says Damian Wayne from Gotham Academy. Just then Robin comes skidding around the corner, clearly out of breath and freezes.
Danny looks down at the clip in his hand and back up at the vigilante. He looks at the crazy amount of birds around him and again at the vigilante.
Said vigilante straightens and approaches like he called Danny there.
“If I could have that so I could return it to its proper owner.”
He holds out a hand with false arrogance, but Danny can see the nervousness in his stance. Danny looks down one last time before putting the clip in the outstretched hand without a word.
Robin nods once, pockets the ID and money, and immediately leaves.
The fifth time just cements what Danny had already figured out.
He was at the park. Not Ivy’s park of course, the one where people actually like to go. He was helping the squirrels find and hide acorns when he’s nearly knocked over by a massive black dog.
“Titus!”
The end of the Great Dane’s leash is a familiar face. Damian Wayne’s eyes widen in recognition as he finally sees who Titus was so excited to get to.
“Uh-“
Danny has to close his mouth quickly or else the massive tongue on his face would have turned into a French kiss.
“Titus! Heel!”
Danny laughs at the embarrassed blush on the other’s face, obviously not used to his companion going off the rails like this.
“It’s alright. We both know how animals like me.”
Damian narrows his eyes to analyze the teen. Danny wasn’t about to pretend and Damian looked like he was debating whether to follow his lead or not. There was literally no one within hearing distance.
“Have you told anyone?”
Danny thought about redirecting, but thought better of it. He actually liked Robin and what he did.
“Nope. I haven’t and I won’t. I swear.”
Damian tilts his head and then looks down at Titus. He seems to come to a decision before looking back at Danny.
“You’re homeless, are you not?”
Didn’t think they were being that direct but sure.
“Yea?”
“I will pay you in food and shelter to take care of my animals.”
Danny blinks. Then actually considers the offer.
“What kind of animals? How many we talking?”
Damian grins.
The family finds out pretty quickly when a teen they’ve never seen before walks into the Batcave with two pails of food for the bats, Titus at his heels and Alfred the cat perched contently on his shoulders.
Duke stares and Bruce short circuits.
“Um, who are you?”
“Hi! I’m Danny. Damian employed me to take care of the animals.”
“O…kay?”
“And where is Damian?” Bruce sounds like it physically hurts to ask and Danny does not envy Damian’s position right now.
“Upstairs. I think he said he was going to his art studio.”
Bruce marches past the boy to the stairs before stopping abruptly and turning to Danny and Duke.
“Don’t touch anything. Watch him.”
Duke and Danny blink at each other for a moment as Bruce disappears up the stairs.
“I’m Duke by the way.”
Danny grins.

Can cats and birds coexist in the same house?
Given that birds are naturally prey and cats are naturally predators, having these two types of pets together may not go well. Cartoons frequently show that cats, both indoors and outdoors, will stalk and jump birds since these are very innate behaviors. But can house cats and pet birds transcend these innate tendencies to live in harmony with one another? Read More...

I would also put forward that rehoming an animal that doesn't fit with you/your household/your family/etc. could rightfully be termed a "need to" rehome them, honestly.
Whenever I adopt an animal it is my intention to keep them forever, to be sure. But sometimes that doesn't work out.
An example of my own:
I was given a 5 year old F3 Bengal (I say 'given', she was dumped on me despite my attempts to refuse; I'd initially expressed interest and, of course, had questions before I agreed), and she loathed other cats. (Thus my attempt to refuse her, because this was known.)
She also loathed me, soon, because she had 5 years of life with zero rules and 18+ hours a day alone in a household. And she missed her person, I suspect. (His fiancée didn't like cats, thus how she came to me.) She did not like me expecting (my definition of) good behaviour, she did not like the other cats (she caused herself an injury once trying to get through grating to attack one of my cats), and she did not like being corralled in a limited space - which was a requirement due to the prior issues.
It would obviously have been far better for her to be in a different household! It would also have been an improvement for me and for my other pets.
I found her a new home with someone who had always wanted a cat and only recently moved into a household that would allow one; his housemate acquired a wolfhound as we were making these arrangements, and he expressed concern (and regret) that he might not be able to take her, but the only animals this cat tolerated were large dogs, and she wished to be a sole cat and be indulged.
Her new person adored her, the dog respected her place, and everyone was much happier and in better condition with this arrangement.
hi! can i ask what's ur opinion on giving pets away? not necessarily because u can't afford to care for em anymore but maybe incompatibility of personalities or maybe lifestyles. is it wrong to give ur pet for adoption if u know someone who's better suited for keeping a pet, like emotionally?
This is going to be controversial, but I support making that choice.
There’s a lot of rhetoric lately around how it’s evil and unethical to rehome your pet if you don’t “need to.” And what that does is prioritize human ideology over the actual animal’s well-being.
Pets that aren’t a good match for your home or pets that aren’t really wanted anymore frequently have lower welfare! When caring for an animal becomes a burden or is forced, people end up resenting them, and that means the animal often doesn’t get all of its needs fulfilled. Even if you’re still feeding it and providing appropriate vet care, how likely are you to provide affection or enrichment to an animal you’re tired of being stuck with?
Lifestyle and personality really matter to making sure a pet is a good fit for a home. A dog that alert-barks at every leaf that moves is probably a bad fit for someone who has a chronic migraine syndrome, and they might not know that until the dog has been in the home for weeks and started to open up. A really feisty kitten that requires a ton of play might not do best in the home of someone older who wanted a quiet lap cat. And while you can you do your best to plan to find a compatible animal, you won’t always know ahead of time what issues might arise.
“Forever home” rhetoric is really, really popular and I think it’s very unfair to the animals it is supposed to support. It started with the backlash of seeing animals abandoned inappropriately, and has been heavily reinforced in the public mind because it’s so frequently used to drive fundraising and support for legislation. The whole “forever home” concept communicates to people that getting an animal is an immutable commitment and that if you can’t keep an animal, it is a personal moral failing. It frames human priorities (we think people who get rid of animals are Evil and Bad and should be shunned) as more important than actual welfare needs for individual animals (are they getting the care they need where they are).
Obviously, I don’t support people dumping animals or just getting fad pets they’ll discard immediately, but there’s so many alternate situations that can arise. Even if it’s just “they got a pet and didn’t know what caring for it would take and didn’t want to care for it so they brought it back, how awful” like… okay, I’d like the person to have done more research before they got a pet, but isn’t it better that the animal now has a second chance to go to better home? Knowing what a commitment requires theoretically can be very different than having to actually follow through regularly, and I’d rather see someone maturely acknowledge that having an animal isn’t a good fit than keep it anyway!!
If animals being happy and with all their biological, veterinary, and social needs fulfilled is actually the goal, we need to prioritize their welfare over human opinion. I’d much rather see an animal rehomed responsibly to somewhere it will thrive and be welcomed than see people keep animals they can’t/don’t want to care for out of guilt or shame.
